Cedar Fence the Wood Fence of Choice

Solid Privacy Fence

The most common fence in Colorado Springs is a solid Cedar Privacy Fence. Summit Fence Company uses premium cedar posts, premium cedar rails and premium cedar pickets, Postmaster steel posts (highly recommended), or 4x4 cedar fence posts, 3 rail construction (highly recommended) all fastened together with galvanized screws (also highly recommended).

Postmaster Steel Posts or Cedar Posts

Wood Posts set in concrete are tough. Postmaster Steel Posts set in concrete are "forever young" tougher. Galvanized screws are tougher than nails. And three rails have more backbone for cedar pickets than do two rails. Summit Fence Company has been installing cedar fencing this way since day one. This gives you the strongest longest lasting cedar fence possible. Call us too see how we can give you the toughest fence for less. Now let’s talk about stain.

To Stain or Not to Stain

Paint stain, sprinkler stain, weather stain. Which do you prefer? As good as they say cedar is, Colorado weather is harsh on cedar. For that reason alone, it is a good idea to weatherproof/stain your new fence. About 2 weeks after installation the cedar wood should be dry. The sooner you fence weatherproof with a good high quality stain or sealer, the better. When you include fence staining at time of construction, the contractor usually gives you a better price.
